In the late '90s, I ran a company called EntreVision. We built and sold a Content Management System called "Web Manager". It was an unwieldy beast, built on top of a proprietary system called Lotus Notes. But, to people used to managing websites with Notepad, it was a revelation.
We sold it for a minimum of $80,000 and we couldn't keep up with demand. Ah, those were the days.
Today, I use Drupal and WordPress to manage my own site and those of my clients. Either one puts Web Manager to shame. Flexible, powerful and easy use. And get this - they're free.
Both applications are available under the GNU General Public License. GNU wha...? Don't worry about what it means. The important part is - they're free.
Wordpress.org says it best - "you are free to use it for anything from your cat’s home page to a Fortune 500 web site without paying anyone a license fee".
What could be easier than creating a page with a screen like this?
