About Us

When I was a kid, I thought that running a big company would be fun. I was wrong. In 1999, just before I sold EntreVision, I had responsibility for over 100 employees. I was an administrator, babysitter, psychiatrist and advisor. Everything but consultant, trainer and developer - the work I loved. It was difficult dealing with the daily demands.

"I need a raise."
"These shackles are interfering with my mouse movements."
"When are you going to turn on the heat? It's January."

Okay, I made up the last two but I did have a graphic designer who wanted to bring his dog to work and my marketing co-ordinator once threatened to quit unless I bought her a custom-fitted trade show uniform.

I sold my interest in the company and decided to work for someone else for a while. I found some pretty cool jobs. At Alias|Wavefront, I even won an Oscar. Okay, the company won an Academy Award for Technical Achievement and my name wasn't actually on the trophy, but my Mom was proud of me nonetheless.

After leaving Alias, I started TaylorKim Consulting (Taylor is my wife's maiden name). I figured someone might value the experience and expertise I've built up over 25 years in the Information Technology field.

TaylorKim is a one-man show. With a difference. I put together teams for each project. Over the years, I've built up a Rolodex of specialists - PHP developers, JAVA programmers, graphic artists - and I put them together as needed for each project. No employees. Just experts. Pulled together as needed.

Because I've been around the block as an entrepreneur, I think I have a good handle on the business issues. On the technical side, I know the secret handshake. I can talk geek. I can match technology with the constraints and demands of a growing business.

How can I help?

  • If you know you should be marketing through online social networks but don't know where to start, I can help.
  • If you want to build a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration in your company, I can help.
  • If you want to sell your product online but are shocked by the quotes you're getting from the big IT and consulting companies, I can help.
  • If you built a website but are disappointed by the lack of traffic, I can help.
  • If your website is horribly out of date and you don't know what to do about it, I can help.

Give me a call or email me. Reach me on Twitter or LinkedIn. You'll find that I'm entrepreneurial, creative and friendly. I'll even turn on the heat when you visit my office.

Update: In late 2009, I accepted a position with Merge Inc., a leading provider of marketing automation solutions. Merge provides an innovative platform for managing online marketing campaigns. They are increasingly being asked to help with execution of online marketing. I've been hired as VP, Business Development to help develop that side of the business. It's an exciting opportunity but it leaves me less time to work with TaylorKim clients. However, Merge understands the benefit of independent consulting - primarily, entrepreneurship and a broad base of client and project experience. I have not completely shut the doors on TaylorKim so please continue to contact me with your needs or questions.  If I can't handle your project, I can certainly help you find someone who can.
